Beladrys is a revival of the Colombus Type. Originally designed by Hermann Ihlenburg, released in 1890 by MacKellar, Smiths & Jordan.
Columbus was also sold by Haddon, Pavyers & Bullen, SKH, Stevens, and Wimble. Carried by Roos & Junge as Alfonso, by Urania as Columbia (before 1908), by Augusta as Victor Hugo, and by Reggiani as Rossana.
Photo-Lettering had a photo adaptation named Columbus Antique, amended by a slightly heavier “Graphic” style. [Alphabet Thesaurus Vol. 3, 1971] Hollenstein had an all-caps version of the Outline style as Lincoln. [1974 catalog]
There are multiple digital revivals. It has become the official Ctuhulu font.
