Sinistre is an open source display serif typeface, freshly remastered to bring more weights back to life. It combines Roman and Uncial letterforms with a soft balance of sharp and round patterns. At first, Sinistre aims to revive the Insular Script of the Book of Kells developed by the Irish monks who carried out their missionary works across Europe during the 9th century. Afterwards it gets reworked while looking at Gaelic stone carving and Celtic calligraphy, at last this influences cross the road of latin Elzevir proportions. This typeface suits best for titling, but if you are brave enough to type set a full text with, you're very welcome. Besides the strong fantasy æsthetic of its letterform, Sinistre could fit for many contemporary purposes, toeing a line between historical references, newness, utility and loftiness. The bolder cuts are pretty bulk, less contrasted but still very legible.
Cyrillic Support was made under the eyes of dear Varya Goncharova.
Mastering and development with the help of Luigi Gorlero & Nunzio Mazzaferro.
